This tournament happens every four years.  Last December 2007 at the 2nd World Championships in Maceio, Brazil, the Philippines came close to winning when they made it to the finals with just 7 guys and 1 girl in the line up.  They eventually lost to Australia.  But despite the handicap with not having enough players in the roster, the Philippines still won in their own right as they showed everyone the heart of a true Filipino athlete. They won the respect of the other players as they bagged the “Spirit Of The Game” award and all the individual awards.  MVP and Most number of Assist went to Kristian Guerrero.  Best Defender to Panoy Delos Santos.  And Top Scorer award went to Boboy Famorcan.

This year, the team will once again represent the Philippines as they go for glory.  Let’s support the Boracay Dragons Philippine National Team as they go for gold!!!

After the Boracay Dragon’s showing at the World Championships Beach Ultimate in Brazil where they represented the Philippines and won silver, and as they have been winning the annual event, the tournament was titled “Slay the Dragons”. Several teams from Manila gave it their best but still, the Dragons at their home court was in their element and showed no chance of letting go of their 5th consecutive Boracay Open Championship. The Sexual Chocolate Team, composed of celebrities, athletes and experienced ultimate players from Manila came closest but still in vain. In the end it was the Boracay Dragons White still prevailing 16-7. It was a race to 15 but a two point huck was thrown and caught in the end zone at the last point.
